Hearthside presented with 2008 legislative grantRep. William McManus recently presented Friends of Hearthside with a check for $1,500 from the R.I. House of Representatives. The grant will provide for the purchase of six data loggers to monitor temperature and humidity levels in the house as well as allowing for the purchase of some UV shades for the southern exposure windows. Having these protective devices in place will help us meet the requirements for bringing the original looms back to Hearthside for exhibit purposes and to help protect the many fine vintage textiles and antiques we have acquired over the past few years. Legislative grants have made a significant impact on our efforts. The funding that Rep. McManus has secured for us in the past has provided for exterior lighting, a handicap ramp, feasibility study for Chase Farmhouse, the development of our website, and the reproduction of the original Hannaway Shop sign. Friends of Hearthside is truly grateful for all his efforts on our behalf! |
